Following the success of our churches open day in 2017 we have decided to do it again. So if you have ever wondered about the heritage and history of our four parish churches, or the architecture, or the renovations and restorations, both old and more recent, there’s another chance for you to find out on Saturday May 4th.
You’ll also be able to do a self-guided walk from church to church with maps and instructions provided.
Drop into any of the parish churches in Grinton, Low Row, Arkengarthdale or Muker and you’ll find coffee, tea and home-baked goodies waiting for you, together with people who’ll happily show you the more interesting bits of the building and tell you, for example, about the new bells at Grinton, or the restored windows at Holy Trinity, Low Row.
Then you can pick up a walk leaflet and follow the instructions and map to make your way to the next church you’d like to visit. You can go to as many as you like and if you need transport back to your starting church, we can sort that out for you. And if you want to make a whole day of it, you can pop into one of the local hostelries for a more substantial meal. All our churches have the benefit of a village pub close by!
The churches will be open from 10am to 4pm. Everyone is welcome – Dales residents, visitors, holiday-makers, walkers (boots and waterproofs definitely needed), non-walkers, bikers and car drivers. We look forward to seeing you.
