Dear friends in Christ,
I write to offer you all my sincere thanks for your prayers and your presence at Sunday’s service in Ripon Cathedral. It was a truly memorable occasion which, I hope, gave glory to God in this new season in the Diocese of Leeds. I look forward to all that lies ahead, and give thanks for the warmth of welcome that Myles and I have received since we moved into our new home in Sharow. We look forward to opportunities to offer hospitality in the months to come!
I am spending much of February in a process of induction into the life of the Diocese, meeting key people, and getting a sense of how each episcopal area works. I am grateful for your patience as I do this. I also am making plans in the coming weeks and months to visit each Deanery, and spend time in various forums getting to know you all. My PA Judith, as you may know, is still based in Exelby, and we look forward to the time when she will be able to move to the newly refurbished office space here at Redwood. We anticipate that this will be sometime in March.
I am grateful to so many of you who have sent cards and greetings, and both Myles and I so looking forward to living and working with you. Thank you all, and thanks be to God!
This comes with assurance of my prayers for all the communities that make up the Ripon Area, and with thanks for your faithfulness and commitment in the place where you are.
I look forward to listening and hearing what is happening, as we love, live and learn together.
The Rt Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley
Bishop of Ripon
