Grinton Forest Church Afternoon, April 2014
We were led by Kevin, a local Forest Schools practitioner and member of the Methodist Church.
We welcomed one another, lit fires, boiled water in Kelly Kettles for hot drinks, shared a Bible story and prayers, and enjoyed being out in God’s creation together.
Andy Ryland is the Rural Officer for our diocese, and he has written a detailed account of the session on his blog:
There is a spectrum of Forest Church, and a variety of groups around the country using the name and a range of themes and ideas.
At Grinton, we used the outdoor environment for all age activities which led us into low key Christian prayer and worship; a different approach might use elements of Celtic and Pagan understandings of nature to explore The Jesus Tradition.
